Boiler Room Boys Beg Investigation

While cleaning out "mybarackobama.com" blog, came across this piece originally posted in October. Considering Wall Street's Maddoff the company of thieves to come, I am taking the President at his word: should compelling evidence comes forth, no one is above the law... and vindication is sweet.

There's something about the mortgage crisis that smells of organized crime. Credit swaps, phoney bank appraisals, unregulated new trading products (scams?) that defy comprehension bred like rabbits under a Republican porch, a Bush-McCain trickle-down fantasy. Consider this: Congressional deregulation plus lack of oversight (police) unleashed organized crime. Infiltrating a speculation-driven financial system, experts at the "con-fidence" game, the beauty of this opportunity would wet any criminal agenda. Conclusion: Congressional deregulation and the Bush policy gave all our money to criminals, on a silver platter. Hello...

The opportunity to steal trillions by simply presenting a business card and posting a website, launched hundreds of new mortgage companies, private lenders, and get rich quick infomercials. Bundling the banks and Wall Street with the bill, it seems to me, a real novice, that the entire financial system fit right into the 21st century criminal mind, an emerging global consideration. For example, this past June, I was able to search comparison appraisals specific to my home for the first time. What shocked me the most was learning that the bank appraisal on my 2007 mortgage was $100,000- $150,000 "officially" overvalued. Any criminal conspiracy would not work without bank cooperation, regulatory neglect, and international vulnerabilities.

When Congress returns in November, the best move would be to get both sides together and reach a bi-partisan agreement to fully fund and support the best special investigators, with a mission to untie the twisted shell companies, find the extortionists, co-conspirators, sophisticated, white collar criminals at the helm. A quality, international approach to stop "crime" could also recover the trillions that have been stolen if we are successful.

Democrats need to take the lead here, get past the lobbyists and partisan dupes, the naive and uninformed, and identify the economic terrorists playing everyone for suckers.

Reflections 2008: Humor- the saving grace

A list of troubles so long, with numbers so huge, errors aplenty, take a moment to laugh at a few of the most absurd, profane, otherworldly characters from 2008.

Election Day Elephant: Know Your Rights and Vote Early

Prevent Voter Suppression on Election Day!

The best way to guarantee your vote counts this election cycle is to vote early, in person. A few great suggestions from Bill Maher's blog, our goal is to inform voters of their rights and make sure every vote counts.

The number one reason voters are challenged on election day is showing up at the wrong precinct. This link will give you the correct direction to your precinct.

The second reason is that your photo id and voter's registration info doesn't match. If you have a problem with the precinct, go to the Main office of the Elections Center and state your problem directly to them. (To find locations, simply enter your address, this search engine returns links to state by state specific officials.) The precinct, under law, has no authority in this matter.

Note that some states now require name verification and have purged voters for other administrative reasons. To prevent voter suppression, you still have 6 business days to get your ids straightened out before you head to the precinct.

1. Check your driver's license, or state ID. Is it expired? Go to your license or ID providers and renew it. In some states, voters can be held for arrest for simply presenting a suspended license.

2. Owe any court fees, municipal fines?
If you did not pay your child support, and your ID was suspended, any other state actions are levied against you, go in person, pay all fines, clear it up before you vote.

3. Make sure your state id name matches your voter registration format.
If you registered your name differently (Mary Kay Miller vs Mary K. Miller) you still have enough time to correct it, go in person to the state office and get it fixed.

Rock the Vote Early! Make every vote count!

Phyllis Schlafly Elephant: Anti-Feminist Mentor at the Core of Palin Strategy

"Phyllis Stewart Schlafly (born August 15, 1924, in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American conservative political activist known for her opposition to feminism and the Equal Rights Amendment. Her bestselling book, A Choice, Not An Echo, was published in 1964 from her home in Alton, Illinois, across the Mississippi River from her native St. Louis. From this self-publication, she formed her Pere Marquette Publishers company. A Choice, Not an Echo decries the power of the "Eastern Establishment" in the Republican Party once exercised by New York Governors Thomas E. Dewey and Nelson A. Rockefeller. Schlafly supported U.S. Senator Barry M. Goldwater in his unsuccessful race against Lyndon B. Johnson. (Sound familiar, folks???)

Schlafly has co-authored several books on national defense and was highly critical of arms-control agreements with the former Soviet Union.[2] In 1961 she wrote that arms control "will not stop Red aggression any more than disarming our local police will stop murder, theft, and rape."[3]

Schlafly continues to exert some influence within the Republican Party and maintains an active presence on the lecture circuit. In 1972, she founded the Eagle Forum, and was the founder and president of a sister organization known as the Eagle Forum Education & Legal Defense Fund, which also operates in the Eagle Forum's St. Louis office. She played a key role in writing some socially conservative language in the Republican National Convention's platform, most recently in 2004. As of 2007, she is still the president of both organizations. Since 1967, she has published her own political newsletter, the Phyllis Schlafly Report."

Time Lord Elephant: Deliberate Distortions Distract from McCain's Record

Pretty clever strategy, selective reality when it comes to defining "what is true" in the moment. Since Barack Obama's positive reception overseas, McCain's damage-control teams have turned on the Republican weapon of mass confusion, initiating what I call their "timelord management©" program.

The highest lord manipulator, Dick Cheney has modeled this technique for years. Living firmly in the present tense, no matter what the topic, when hand caught in cookie jar, the Master Timelord grabs onto the here and now, with a foot stomp, brushing off accountability for what just happened, any other past events. The past is past so what?

Republicans "frame" the language, serve and spin to the other side. Then Democrats respond with a flutter of "rapid-response", pumping media-driven spin control back at 'em. Tied up in content when the whole game is process, the Dems strike a reasonable blow and wait. Moving on, the Timelord slams back, hits way over the line, then turns away, simply ignores the whistle and serves another slam. Even cable news and youtube can't stop McCain, the Lord Master Confusion of them all. He just keeps going, and going, a shark in water, energizer bunny of confusion, never stopping, no accountability, for what he just said, or didn't do, rewriting history along the way.

When confronted by others seeking the truth, a Timelord will look you in the eye, say nothing, send a "so what" message and babble off topic. A master move, the experienced Timelord flips a "what's your problem?" projecting all blame on the question, claiming victory every time.

Diabolically astute, taking a basic, cosmic principle of "living in the present", a formula for mental health, and working that principle to get out of past mistakes by never going there is the key to their success. A conscious choice in behavior, stealing time, stopping the clock allows McCain and his Republican high lords to change positions hourly, pull a "what's your problem" when caught in a dirty deed, deflecting all accountability in the process.

Talk amongst yourselves... it's good to be the scribe.

DeFacto Racism GOP Elephant Driving Campaign Conversation

Today we learn more about Carl Rove and the Republican hate machine, playing on de facto racism, their underlying strategy should Obama be the candidate. But the really big elephant this week? When will the Dems take back the primary conversation? That's what voter's want to know. Appearing weak and out of touch, the Party leadership needs to re-focus this entire process away from the numbers and the lunatic fringe, get back to the excitement and potential of both candidates and the Party as a whole.

A well designed, high end candidate's debate in North Carolina, ala Lincoln-Douglas format, where both candidates get wonky on the issues, that is what we want to hear. On the frontline of economic challenges, lower wages, loss of benefits and job security, we the people are way ahead of the political-corporate-media class when it comes to this conversation. The huge turnouts and increase in voters this primary season, the twists and turns are not a fluke. Obviously, the voters still want both of them on the ticket, no matter what. This time the Dems can't afford to make the same mistakes, and drive voters away from the Party, burn us out with super delegate deals, mathmatical ga-ga, the either-or scenario. That's just pure ego on either candidate's part to deny this reality. If anything, these super delegates would be stone-stupid not to bring the two candidates together, in fact, they could do so right now. Obama and Clinton should start wrapping their heads around sharing the ticket as well, get used to the idea, because that is really what the voters want. Who cares who's at the top? We need a strong team and that's the real story.

To get out of the current economic and political mess that Carl Rove and the Neo cons have puppeted through Bush-Cheney, we need two giant heads working for the same goals, managed by a strong people's movement, and a Democratic Senate, House and Governorships. We must take this country back now, because the time is ripe. No matter who gets the top title, we want 'em both, no discussion. And, when the Party and media try to push this thing to an early conclusion, we'll show up in even larger numbers, just to keep all of you on the right path. We're not just here to donate to your campaigns this time around, we intend to keep on the Democratic winners in every office until the problems are fixed, too.
PARTY to the people!
