Message to the Mega Christians: Jesus Will Get You for That
"I urge you brother, be on your guard against the people who are out to stir up disagreements and bring up difficulties against the teaching which you learnt. Avoid them. People of that sort are servants not of our Lord Christ, but of their own greed, and with talk that sounds smooth and reasonable they deceive the minds of the unwary." ( Romans 16:17-19. New Testament of the New Jerusalem Bible)
A former Catholic who now defines herself as a Militant Agnostic*, one thing I remember from Theology studies is that "evil" is a human choice, a perversion/distortion of that which is good and true. And so, here's today's thought from of all places, The Bible, something I literally fell upon today while cleaning my bookshelf.
As we enter the dog days of the 2012 election cycle, once again we are confronted by a counter-revolutionary movement hellbent upon establishing a "Theocratic (Christian) Plutocracy" in a democratic nation based upon religious tolerance and the separation of church and state. Today, the Republican lead House of Representatives is once again choosing to ignore ready-to-go jobs bills, tax relief for the 98% and instead offering yet another crazy piece of legislation attacking women's health via the abortion issue. Are you kidding me?
